VÄTTERHEM WANTS TO BUILD US A NEW ARTSPACE

For us at Österängens Konsthall, Vätterhem’s plans are a dream come true. We have waited a long time to be able to tell everyone and now Vätterhem is confident enough to let you all read about the plan for the new art hall in JP today.
A new, larger, free-standing art space in glass and steel that looks as though it hover over the ravine that is a stone’s throw from the center.
We who work here love our art space but we have out grown it’s size. We want to be able to do more, our program holds a high quality, but some may miss the art gallery experience that you find in a building designed by architects for that very purpose. The proposal is still quite modest which we like, it is not a large and noxious art hall and most important of all is that we remain in Österängen.
There have been many discussions and rounds gone around a municipal art space without it coming to anything, but if there is a time to go for it, it is now. Jönköping is growing and can afford to build. We believe that the new art space will receive broad political support and we will continue to work in the same way we have before. We would like to express our sincere thanks to our members and volunteers who made our work possible.
Now we hope that this proposal goes all the way and that Jönköping and Österängen will enjoy these new meetingplace and the opportunities it brings.
